OPXBIO Named an AlwaysOn GoingGreen Global 200 Winner

BOULDER, Colo. – September 29, 2011 – OPX Biotechnologies Inc. (OPXBIO) today announced it has been named a GoingGreen Global 200 winner by AlwaysOn. Inclusion in the GoingGreen Global 200 signifies OPXBIO’s leadership among its peers with its development of game- changing approaches and technologies in the Biotech, Biofuel and Agriculture category. OPXBIO was selected a winner based on five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value, and media buzz.

“Picking this year’s GoingGreen Global 200 was a very competitive process, as literally dozens of great greentech companies are emerging out of the pack, raising big money, and gaining significant market traction,” said Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn. “This year’s winners clearly represent some of the highest-growth opportunities we’ve seen in the private company marketplace and underscore that many of the greentech sectors VCs have been betting on are booming.”

OPXBIO recently raised $36.5 million in the first closing of its C-Round private equity financing. This financing enabled the company to accelerate development and commercialization of an industrial-scale process to produce its first renewable chemical, bioacrylic, with The Dow Chemical Company.

“We are proud the green technology community continues to recognize the amazing potential of both our technology and our business model,” said Charles Eggert, president and chief executive officer of OPXBIO. “The AlwaysOn GoingGreen Global 200 award is great validation of our work to deliver bioacrylic and biofuel products that are both renewable and less expensive than their petroleum-based counterparts.”
